FAQs
Why do I need a book? A book provides you with credibility in your field of expertise. It creates a platform for you and is a foundation for your business or personal brand.
Why should I get professional help instead of doing it on my own? We know all the ins and outs of going from a blank sheet of paper to being published. We offer all the services under one roof and can have you in print in a matter of weeks instead of months or years.
How long will it take me to write a book? That depends on you. If you follow our time tested advice you can have a book written, edited and for sale in a matter of 4-8 weeks, depending on the book.
What’s the benefit of coming to a workshop? We provide you with exercises to help you get in the mood to write as well as a venue where you are able to focus your undivided attention on one thing—your book. We are there every step of the way to offer support and guidance to make sure you leave with a book you can be proud of.
How long is the average book? Studies are showing that readers of ebooks are preferring longer books than in prior years. This is good news in that you do not have to create two versions of your book—one for print and one for ebook. Smashwords did a study of their top 100 ebooks and found the shorter the book length the fewer sales. The average book had a word count of 115,000 words. This is not true for children's books which have considerably fewer words.
Do I need a print book or can I just publish an ebook? Within the past year there is a resurgence in printed books. People still like holding a book in their hands and from a marketing perspective, it is better to have a physical book than an ebook. So our answer to this question here at Radiance Publishing is—have both!
Why Radiance Publishing over self-publishing, vantage presses or attempting to get a regular publisher? First off, let's take Vantage Presses off the table entirely. We see no benefit to a Vantage Press at all. In terms of going the regular publishing route, you are first going to have to find a publisher, then wait for up to a year and a half to have your book published. You give up any editorial and creative rights to the book. You still have to promote your book and you make very little money on it. Self publishing is another way to go but if this is your first book, it may take you quite a while to learn all the ins and outs of publishing. When you work with us, you get the best of both worlds in the benefits you receive. We get your book to print within a 4-8 weeks, you maintain your editorial and creative rights to the book and you put a lot more money in your pocket on each book sale.
Can Radiance Publishing help me build a Brand? Absolutely. We can help you put all your marketing materials together as well as handle PR for you. We can provide one on one coaching to get you ready to deal with the media and to begin your speaking platform.
Will I be relinquishing my rights if I go with Radiance Publishing? No. you will maintain your rights to your work. You are paying for our services. You own the copyright to your material and all rights to it.
Once I have a book then what? Believe it or not, a book is just the beginning. Then there is deciding how to promote and market the book and whether or not you wish to start speaking or offering your expertise as a consultant. We can help you with all of this.
What if I am not able to complete my book in the time allotted? We will continue to be there to support you in your efforts to get your book finished. We will provide one on one coaching via Skype to keep you on track to finish your book and get it to print.
Will I need a laptop in order to attend a workshop? We will be providing you with an ebook template to type your manuscript into. By typing directly into this template you will almost have your book formatted. So while you do not need to bring a laptop, doing so will save the step of having to type in your entire manuscript at a later time.
Are payment plans available? Yes, we do have payment plans available for our packages and our workshops. We also have excellent discounts available for people who are decisive and pay everything up front and in advance. This helps us with our bookkeeping and we like to reward you generously for that help.
Are there any restrictions I need to be aware of? While you are in the writing zone, we suggest that you stay away from caffeine and sugar. Since these work against the zone.
What about book promotion? No matter what avenue you take you are going to have to put effort into promoting your book. The writing and publishing is just the beginning. We can help you with promotion as well. Whether you wait for a traditional publishing house to publish your book or go with us, you will still have promotion to do. The difference is you will keep more money in your pocket by working with us.
Is it Possible to Write a Whole Book in Only 3 Days? Yes and no. It depends on the length of the book and whether or not you are able to get into the writer's zone. We guide you through the exercises necessary to get you there and keep you there. What we can tell you is that if you do not have your book entirely finished by the end of the 3 days, you will have it done by the end of the week if you stay focused on it. You'll be amazed at how quickly your book will emerge with guidance, motivation and focus.
